SDSU CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES

SDSU Child and Family Services will coordinate leading experts across SDSU campuses to provide accessible services to children and families throughout the San Diego region, including U.S.-Mexico transborder communities. Using a network of partnerships and telehealth technology, SDSU Child and Family Network will extend services to families homes, schools, and communities. They will also provide opportunities for interdisciplinary research among faculty and service-based learning for SDSU undergraduate, masters and doctoral students.

The COVID-19 crisis has accentuated existing vulnerabilities among communities, highlighting the need to improve access to comprehensive services for children and family health and well-being. Harnessing community partnerships and telehealth technology, a group of dedicated SDSU researchers will provide support services to children and families in their homes, schools, and communities that address unmet health care and educational needs.

Drawn from psychology, social work, child and family development, and dual language and English learner education fields, the researchers will work with community partners and students on providing  support  for children and families throughout the San Diego region and the U.S-Mexico transborder communities. They will address speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, autism, anxiety and depression, exercise and nutrition, asthma, diabetes and obesity.
