Presidential Task Force on Student Activities and Safety

The Presidential Task Force on Student Activities and Safety was announced by San Diego State University President Adela de la Torre on November 12, 2019. Its purpose was to examine elements of the student experience in light of nationwide issues related to student alcohol and other drug abuse, as well as other risk factors facing college populations. An emphasis will be placed on the review of student organizations and activities, fraternity and sorority life, and also student events and sports clubs. The group convened throughout the 2019-20 academic year with a report of findings and recommendations submitted by April 2020.

Purpose and Activities

The Presidential Task Force on Student Activities and Safety is charged with presenting targeted strategies, recommendations and goals to address the safety of our dynamic student body. The group is expected to present action-based recommendations to create innovative, long-term positive outcomes across the landscape of the student experience at SDSU.

Committee Members

The Presidential Task Force on Student Activities and Safety is comprised of content experts both internal and external to SDSU, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and administrators. Task force group members may identify additional participants based on experience and expertise.
